Some consoles are seemingly unable to eject discs, while others automatically eject discs upon insertion.

Some reports have even claimed that the console will continuously attempt to eject a disc when there is no disc inserted. This issue mainly plagues early PS4 models, which featured touch-capacitive power and eject buttons. When you touch the eject button on these models, a piece of rubber helps eject the disc.

I have a hard drive that use to work now is say its not usb 3. Is it configured with USB 3. If it is USB 2. Read more here. I bought a new seagate 2tb drive, but when I plugged it in, it said no usb connected? I restarted the ps4 but still the same? If it shows the capacity in that huge number, then surely this is a defective drive my friend.

You can do one step though. My external hard drive has worked perfectly. I installed some games on it and saved game data. To install this application on another storage device, first delete it, and then download it again or insert the disc for it.

The USB slots are working fine, the light on the hard drive is on, controller charging cord works fine. Most probably it is a bad sector due to the wrongly use of the drive. First of all, connect your external hard drive to a computer and ensure it is working fine by by getting recognized on the computer.

If it works but have some errors, go and perform Check Disk on it. Confused as to why this has happened all of a sudden because I use my ps4 every day and hardly ever disconnect the external HD. I have tried everything other than a full rebuild, is there a better fix?

Gone through the whole process of new drive installation and at the point of plugging my old drive into the ps4 in hopes of using backup and restore data saved back to the old drive from PC to recover all my applications. PS4 insists I format the drive to make it suitable for extended storage when I try to locate restore data on it. Thing is the drive was formatted in exFAT on the computer so I could move the restore data back onto the old drive.

User error here. How did I figure it out. I went to restore that backup and saw the new backup but not the old. I then plugged the drive into the computer gain to compare old save -vs new save.

Saw the newly saved backup had an extra folder level at the very top. So I removed the newly saved PS4 folder and newly saved backup then created a new PS4 folder and simply dragged the old backup data into the that thus allowing PS4 to find what it would be looking for during a restore process. I understand that to use the external drive after the restore has been used from it to update the new 2TB internal that It will require a PS4 format.

All is well. Hope everything works smooth for everyone out there doing their upgrade and they remember to take you time and hopefully the answer will show itself.
