To avoid warpage, tighten multifastener assemblies in a crisscross fashion, in progressive stages, until full torque is reached. Unless otherwise specified, torque specifications call for clean, dry threads.
Components should be at room temperature. These preventive maintenance procedures, if followed, will ensure more reliable vehicle operation and a longer service life. The need for costly overhaul work will be greatly reduced. This information applies to vehicles already in service as well as new vehicles that are being prepared for sale.

These controls not only function to ensure cleaner air but are also vital to proper engine operation and maximum performance. Place the motorcycle on a level place. Turn the fuel cock to "ON" position. Removal 1. Spark plugs 3. Measure: e Valve clearance Valve clearance measurement steps: e Turn the crankshaft clockwise with wrench. NOTE: Valve clearance must be measured when the engine is cool to the touch. Valve Clearance Adjusting Locknut: 7 Nm 0. Assembly Reverse the removal procedure. Note the following points. Spark Plugs: 13 Nm 1. No adjustment is necessary. Idle speed Warm up the engine and turn the throttle stop screw Q to adjust.
Final step: -If the free play is incorrect, adjust the throttle cable free play with the adjuster Throttle grip side. Spark plug gap 2. Clean: -Spark plug Clean the spark plug with a spark plug cleaner or wire brush.
Use a wire gauge. Spark Plug Gap: 0. Have the spark plug torqued to the correct value as soon as possible with a torque wrench. Warm up the engine. Remove: -Spark plugs 4. Measure: -Compression pressure Compression pressure measurement steps: -Install the Compression Gauge Q using an adapter. Compression Gauge: YU -Crank over the engine with the electric starter Be sure the battery is fully charged with the throttle wide open until the compression reading on the gauge stabilizes.
Compression Pressure with oil introduced into cylinder Reading Diagnosis Higher than without Worn or damaged oil pistons Defective ring s , Same as without oil valves, cylinder head gasket or piston is possible.
Inspect cylinder head, Above maximum level valve surfaces, or piston crown for carbon deposits. NOTE: The difference between the highest and lowest cylinder compression readings must not vary more than the specified value. Engine oil level visual inspection steps: - Place the motorcycle on a level place and support the motorcycle with a suitable stand. Warm up the engine for serveral minutes, then place an oil pan under the engine.
Install: -Filler cap 6. Warm up the engine and place a drain pan under the engine. Remove: -Oil filler cap -Drain plug Drain the engine oil. Install: -Drain plug Drain Plug: 32 Nm 3. Install: -Oil filter cap 8. Such solvent may lead to a fire or explosion. Do not twist the element when squeezing the element. NOTE: The element should be wet but not dripping. Loosen: eLockunt CD 2.
This air must be removed by bleeding the brake system before the motorcycle is operated. Air in the system will cause greatly diminished braking capability and can result in loss of control and an accident. Inspect and bleed the system if necessary. Loosen: e Locknut CD 2. Activate the brake pedal. A dangerous loss of braking performance may occur if the brake system is not properly bled. Add proper brake fluid to the reservoir.
Install the diaphragm. Be careful not to spill any fluid or allow the reservoir to overflow. Connect the clear plastic tube CD tightly to the caliper bleed screw.
